Your Child Should Take the ISEE Multiple Times

We recommend that students take the ISEE multiple times. Ideally, students take the test once during the course of test preparation with a tutor, and then again at the end of test preparation. This gives students multiple times to learn from their mistakes and practice time-management and test-taking strategies. It also gives tutors the opportunity to use the student’s test as an additional formal assessment with which to guide their instruction over the remainder of the preparation course.

The ERB says, “Whenever the stakes are high for testing, it is important to give students more than one opportunity to test.” Students may register to take the ISEE at most one time per testing season. The ISEE testing seasons are defined as Fall (August – November), Winter (December – March), and Spring/Summer (April – July).

Our ISEE test preparation program is customized to address each child’s individual strengths and weaknesses. Based on the results of an initial assessment, we develop a customized preparation plan to arm students with powerful and up-to-date test-taking strategies for all sections of the ISEE and for multiple times taking the test. Tutors monitor growth and adjust instruction, so all the tutoring is customized to the students’ specific needs.

An exclusive benefit of working with Boston Tutoring Services is that students will be trained with the most up-to-date and effective strategies. We have developed proprietary materials to maximize instruction, having thoroughly researched all of the current test preparation strategies and content. We reviewed all of the official ISEE practice tests that the ERB company has released, to ensure that we include all new content in our 2019 Edition of Mastering the ISEE & SSAT Test Preparation book.  Tutors have been fully trained using these specialized materials and methods.

Students will learn how to make the most of their time, and answer the questions with a deeper understanding of how the test is constructed. Many students feel test-taking anxiety, which can affect their score, and that is why stress-reduction techniques are integrated in the instruction process. Your child will be confident and prepared on test day, especially when they take the ISEE multiple times.
